Hey everyone! I just got a Lenovo T480s with an Intel i7 and 16GB of RAM for $130 on eBay, and I'm looking to use it as my experimental tinkering and development machine. Right now, I'm considering Mint Cinnamon or Fedora Workstation, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on what distro would be the best fit for me!

You might want to check out CachyOS too, just for something a bit different. It's pretty user-friendly and great for experimenting.
Why not try both? Live mode lets you test them out without installing, so you can see which one you like better. Have fun with it!
Both Mint and Fedora are solid options! They’ll run great on your new machine, so you can’t go wrong with either one.
I recommend starting with Mint Cinnamon as a base. Then, you can set up KVM to create virtual machines. This way, you can experiment with multiple distros without taking up too much space. Just be mindful of the disk space since each VM can take up 20-40 GB.
Free will! Love that approach!
