Hey everyone! I'm looking to install Linux on my old HP 14-ac101la Notebook, which has 2 GB of RAM and a 500 GB HDD. Windows runs really poorly on it, so I want to learn more about Linux and give this laptop a new life. What distro would you recommend for my setup?

Bodhi Linux 7.0 HWE should run just fine on your machine, and it's pretty light! Definitely worth a shot if you're looking for simplicity.
I think AntiX is a solid choice for light systems like yours. It's not the most user-friendly, but it's super lightweight. If you're up for trying something else, PeppermintOS is also a good option—it’s designed for smaller hardware too!
You might also want to consider upgrading your RAM to 4GB or 8GB if possible; that will make a huge difference.
If you're willing to upgrade your RAM to 8GB, you'll definitely notice some improvements. Your processor is on the weaker side, but maximizing your memory can help a lot! A lightweight distro like Sparky Linux or Lubuntu would be a good fit, especially after the upgrade. Bodhi Linux is another favorite of mine for older machines.
Debian with the LXQt desktop is a fast installer and works fine on older specs. Plus, if you don't like it, you can easily switch to a different distro.
For 2GB of RAM, Lubuntu is a great option. It's light and works well for older laptops. If you don't want to upgrade your hardware, you might also check out Tiny Core Linux or Puppy Linux, which are designed for super low spec machines!

Really? I've never used Linux before, but is that the only option?
