Hey everyone! I'm setting up a virtual machine with VirtualBox 5.2 and I'm having issues with Linux Mint—it's really slow and crashes whenever I try to do something. I don't want to upgrade to a newer version of VirtualBox because it limits installations to only the C drive, and I only have 20GB free on that drive. I'm looking for suggestions on the best Linux distribution to run in this setup. Should I keep trying, or is it just not worth it? I need Linux for a specific program I've found that only runs on it, and I prefer not to install it on my main machine since I don't have another device available for this.

I’ve been using VirtualBox 7, and it lets you choose where to store your VMs. The option is called the Default Machine Folder. So, it might be worth considering if it would help you manage your space better!
Actually, it’s about installing VBox 7 itself rather than just the VMs. I heard they changed it to avoid users trying to install in restricted directories.
