Hey everyone! I've just got my hands on a budget-friendly GeForce 1080Ti and I'm building a new PC around it. My plan is to eventually upgrade the GPU when I've blocked out the cost. I'm torn between getting 2 x 8GB of RAM or going for 2 x 16GB right from the start. Here's my build so far: CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7800x3d, motherboard is a Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX V2, I've got a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB M.2 SSD, and the RAM I was initially considering is Kingston Fury DDR5-6000 CL30, 2 x 8GB. Should I splurge on the 2 x 16GB now? Also, I've got the PSU and case sorted, but I don't think that's relevant to my question. Thanks in advance!

If you can swing it, definitely go for the 2 x 16GB setup. DDR5 doesn't suffer the steep performance drop that DDR4 does when using a single stick. Running just one 16GB stick now and planning to add another later is an option, but you'll miss out on some dual-channel benefits. Just a thought!
Super helpful! I've been out of the loop for about 15 years, so I wasn't sure about the dual-channel stuff.
I'd suggest starting with a single 16GB stick if you're planning to upgrade later. It makes future upgrades a breeze. Just keep in mind, dual-channel generally performs better, but it's good for flexibility.

Wait, why are you asking now if you already purchased it? Curious to see how that 10-year-old GPU performs with your new components!
