I've been experiencing frequent black screen hangs on my 5070 since updating to the latest drivers (595.79). This happens randomly, whether I'm gaming or just watching videos, but it tends to strike more often during games. I've seen that a lot of other users are having similar issues. Since the tech support subreddit doesn't allow for these types of questions and the main support thread is pretty much abandoned, I'm hoping someone can help me out. I want to roll back to a stable driver using DDU but I can't remember which version introduced these problems. Any suggestions for a reliable driver version that won't cause these black screen hiccups?

Have you tried enabling the "Prefer Maximum Performance" Power Management setting? This fixed a similar issue for my 3080ti. Just go to Nvidia App > Graphics Settings and look for it near the bottom. There might be other motherboard settings messing with it too, but this tweak seemed to help.
From my experience, the 566.36 driver is the last stable one before the 5-series cards came out. To roll it back, make sure to install it while your ethernet is unplugged and your firewall is off. Uninstall the old driver, reboot, and then do a custom, clean install of the new one. Ever since I switched to 566.36 on my 4070TI, I've faced no issues. All the drivers released after have caused problems like display issues and games lagging, so it’s definitely a solid choice.
You might want to try the 591.74 studio driver. I'm using it with my 5070ti and haven’t faced any black screen issues. Just ensure to clean out your previous drivers using DDU in safe mode first. If the problem persists, it could be a display port issue or possibly a faulty cable. Definitely check your monitor settings!
I know it's frustrating when these issues pop up out of the blue. If you’re still under warranty, consider RMAing your card if rolling back drivers doesn’t help. Sometimes, the problem can be hardware-related, as I found out the hard way!
