Hey everyone! I'm in the process of planning a new gaming PC build with a budget of around $2000-2500 and I'm a bit stuck on how to handle storage. I'm looking for enough space not just for games, but also for movies and other files. I don't feel comfortable just getting one single 2-4 TB M.2 NVMe SSD, especially since my motherboard only has two M.2 slots. I'm considering getting a combination of an M.2 SSD (around 2TB) and a larger SATA SSD (like 4TB) to manage storage for different tasks. It seems like most modern games don't benefit significantly from NVMe speed, so I could put some on the SATA drive. But then again, I could just get two NVMe drives, as the prices are somewhat similar. Any thoughts on how to navigate this? I'd love to hear how others handle their storage setups!

I use a setup with a 4TB NVMe for my OS and games, plus a few cheaper 2TB SSDs for general storage. For movies, I rely on a 12TB external HDD, and I've set up Jellyfin to stream. That way, everything's organized and accessible!
I recommend getting a 4TB PCIe NVMe for games and your OS. For media, a high-capacity 3.5" SATA HDD will work great for storing movies and photos, even for 4K playback. This way, you'll keep your M.2 slot available for future upgrades. Hard drives can be reliable; just make sure to back up your important files!
6TB is quite a lot of storage! Personally, I think starting with a single 2TB drive is a good move. Once you start running low on space, you can evaluate your options for expansion later on.

Thanks for the input! I totally overlooked hard drives. Can you recommend any specific brands for reliability?
