I'm running out of space on my 1TB NVMe drive, and my ASUS Prime B450M-A II motherboard only has one M.2 slot. The other storage options available are SATA drives, HDDs, or two PCIe 2.0 x1 slots, which I believe are slower than SATA III. Given that SATA drives seem overpriced compared to M.2 NVMe drives, I'm considering either a SATA drive or an M.2 NVMe drive with an adapter (either via SATA or USB). I plan to move my less speed-dependent files, like videos and photos, to the new drive while keeping games on my current SSD. Any suggestions on the most effective way to upgrade? Should I go with an M.2 and an adapter or a SATA drive?

Why not just grab a 2TB M.2 drive instead of sticking with the 1TB? It could make things simpler for you in the long run.
How would I even move files from the 1TB to the 2TB if I've got only one M.2 slot available?
