What’s the Best Upgrade Path for My Gaming PC?

I'm looking to upgrade my gaming PC, but I'm unsure where to start. Here are my current specs:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-4670k @ 3.4GHz
- Motherboard: Z87X-D3H-CF
- RAM: Corsair 16GB (2x8) DDR3
- Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 980
- Power Supply: EVGA 600W
- Storage: 8TB HDD + 1TB HDD

I'm running Windows 10, and I realize my setup is a bit dated. Could anyone suggest what I should upgrade first and what I might replace it with? Thanks for the help!

Honestly, it seems like your best bet is to replace the whole system at this point. Your CPU and GPU are quite outdated, and you won't find solid upgrades that will significantly boost performance. The good news is you can buy everything except the GPU now, keeping costs lower. You could stick with your existing GPU for a while, but you will need to upgrade it eventually as it’s bottlenecking your performance.

If you're thinking about your finances, it might be wiser to save up for a completely new build. You could sell your current setup to boost your budget. That said, can you share which games you're aiming to play? If you're set on upgrading part by part, knowing your priorities will help tailor recommendations.

I typically play smaller indie games and some older titles, but I did pick up the new Borderlands. It plays, but definitely not smoothly, so I'm just trying to figure this out.
