I'm doing video shoots, and my camera generates these long, complicated file names. I'd like to batch rename them to a simpler format like "videofile10001, videofile10002," and so on, using a five-digit sequence. I'm looking for an easy, free way to do this without ending up with parentheses in the file names. I know Windows 11 has a feature where you can rename files using F2, but I want to avoid the default naming style. Any recommendations?

You should check out Bulk Rename Utility. It's a really comprehensive tool that can help you rename files in bulk easily. The interface can seem a bit overwhelming at first, but it's worth it! You can download it from their official site.
I can't live without it! Best tool for renaming.
If you have Windows 11, definitely look into the PowerRename tool that's part of the free PowerToys suite. It works exactly like you're describing and offers tons of customization options.
Nice! I just installed PowerToys for another feature and didn’t know this tool was part of it!
You can also try Filebot. It's pretty straightforward to use, especially for organizing TV shows and movies. It lets you rename an entire series in one go, which could be useful for video shoots too.
Have you thought about using PowerShell? I know it sounds intimidating, but it's really powerful. You can find some scripts online that will do the heavy lifting for you. Just ask tools like ChatGPT to help generate the script based on what you need!
Isn't that a bit lazy though? Can't you just learn to do it yourself?

Totally agree! It's saved me so much time with file management.
