What’s the best way to build a 1440p gaming PC for about $600 USD in Canada?

I'm new to choosing PC parts, although I'm comfortable assembling a computer. My budget is roughly $600 USD, or about $800 CAD, and I already own the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals. I'd like to play BeamNG, Peak, and GTA 5 at 1440p. I'm willing to buy used components, and I'd prefer an Nvidia graphics card if that fits the budget. What parts or used systems should I look for?

Try to find an older complete gaming PC locally instead of buying every part new. Something with a Ryzen 5 5600, Ryzen 7 5800X, or similar AM4 processor and 16GB of RAM would be a solid starting point. A used RTX 3070, 3060 Ti, RTX 4060, or comparable card can handle 1440p much more reasonably than anything affordable when purchased new.

You’ll probably need either more money or some patience to meet the goal. A system built around a Ryzen 5 5600, B550 board, 16GB DDR4, a 650W power supply, and a used GPU is the most practical route. Check the expected performance of any used combination for Peak at 1440p, since it appears to be the most demanding game listed. Local computer shops and reputable used listings may also have open-box or refurbished parts that reduce the cost.

At this budget, a completely new 1440p system will be very difficult in Canada, especially if you insist on Nvidia. The used market is probably your best option. Look for a complete AM4 system or a tower without a graphics card, then add a used GPU separately. Be patient and compare local listings rather than rushing into a new prebuilt.

A realistic low-cost platform would be a Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X, a B550 motherboard, 16GB of DDR4, and a used graphics card such as an RTX 3060, RTX 2070, or RX 6600. AMD cards generally offer better value, but an RTX 3060 or 2070 can work if you find a good deal. You may need to exceed the budget slightly once the case, power supply, storage, and cooler are included.
