I'm looking to create a centralized website for my extended family that can handle event planning, photo and video uploads, a contact list, and include a chat or forum feature. I want to ensure the site has a login system for privacy. While I have some web development experience from a college course and a few months of self-teaching, I'm not sure I can build something this comprehensive from the ground up. I've tried using Wix and WordPress for simpler sites but haven't tackled anything this expansive yet. I currently use Squarespace for my domain, but I'm not familiar with their website builder. What platforms or solutions would you recommend for this family website?

Honestly, I think building something like that might not be the best route. Your family might prefer using existing platforms like Google, Discord, or Telegram. They have native apps and are user-friendly, plus they’re already designed for collaboration.
Have you considered using Google services? You could leverage Gmail, Calendar, and Drive. They offer built-in collaboration tools that might fit what you’re looking for.

My family is pretty tech-savvy, and we already use Signal groups, but I'm not a fan of Google’s data policies. I'm trying to create a more permanent space for sharing things like photography and genealogy.
