I need help with compressing an 8K video recorded on a Samsung Galaxy S23. The video is 17 minutes long and takes up about 10 GB, which makes it too large to transfer to a USB pen or store on my older hard drive. I don't have a USB-C cable to connect to my friend's PC directly. I'm looking for ways to compress this video without losing too much quality, ideally so it can fit onto a USB drive. Any tips or software recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Handbrake is a solid option for compressing videos—it's free and pretty user-friendly. You can pick one of their presets to change the resolution from 8K to something like HD or even SD, which will significantly reduce the file size while keeping decent quality for a home video. That's the trick with compression; you might lose some quality, but you can adjust the settings to minimize this.
If you're looking to fit that video on a USB stick, just formatting the USB drive to exFAT can help. FAT32 has a 4 GB limit, which is why you’re having issues transferring. ExFAT should allow you to transfer large files without any trouble.
If you want to do it directly on your phone, there’s an app called FFShare that can compress videos without needing to transfer them to a computer. This could save you a lot of hassle!
You might want to check out FFmpeg too. It's powerful for video processing, but it can be a bit complicated if you're not tech-savvy. Still worth a look if you're comfortable with it!

Is it really free to use for a 10 GB video? I thought it might have restrictions.
