What’s the Best Way to Connect My 5070 Ti?

I recently upgraded to a 5070 Ti graphics card, and the installation instructions specifically mention using two separate power supply cables instead of one cable with two connectors. Currently, I have two dual-head cables connected, but one connector on each is just hanging. It works fine, but it's not great for cable management or aesthetics. Is this a common setup? Should I keep it like this, try to find two single cables that are compatible with my PSU, or is it okay to use just one dual-head connector?

Do you have a native 12VHPWR cable in your PSU? It's definitely the best option if it's available. Adapters can sometimes increase fire risk, especially compared to using a native cable. Given you just dropped over $900 on a GPU, consider investing in a PSU that can handle it directly; it's worth it for peace of mind, usually less than 10% of your GPU cost.

If you’re using a 12V-2x6 adapter, it's always better to use two single 8-pin cables. The 5070 Ti pulls about 300W but can spike above that. Using a pigtail setup limits you to 150W from the main cable, plus 75W from the pigtail and PCIe slot. Two separate cables can give you a more reliable power supply of up to 375W for those spikes when needed.

If you're dealing with the power connectors, it's usually best to zip-tie those dangling connectors to keep things tidy. The 5070 Ti uses a 12V-2x6 connector, so if your PSU doesn’t have a native 12VHPWR cable, using the multi 8-pin PCIe to 12V-2x6 adapter that came with your GPU is the way to go. Personally, I opted for a cable that connects directly from 8-pin ports on my PSU to the GPU's 12V-2x6 connector. It makes for a cleaner setup without the clutter of adapters.
