What’s the best way to create a complete backup image of my Windows installation?

I'm looking for a reliable method to create 1:1 images of my Windows physical disk installations for backups or restoration. I used to rely on Rescuezilla and Clonezilla with their graphical interfaces, but I'm wondering if those are still effective tools for this purpose. What are the alternatives, and how can I ensure my backups are done correctly?

Honestly, imaging your disk isn't the best backup strategy. I'd recommend syncing your important data to OneDrive instead. If your machine fails, just build a new one and reinstall your apps using something like Intune. Plus, if your drives are encrypted with BitLocker, you can't clone them anyway. If you need a copy, consider using Veeam for backups. It’ll save you a lot of headaches.

Macrium Reflect is a solid option. I just keep using the trial version! It works great, especially if you're a sysadmin with access to multiple devices. It's easy to spin up email addresses if you need to extend the trial. Just make sure to read up on how it handles backups and cloning!

If you're comfortable with Linux, I really like using the 'dd' command. It’s powerful for making disk images and doesn’t require any fancy software. Just be careful with the commands since they can overwrite data if used incorrectly.
