Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out the best way to download a YouTube video to my laptop so I can take a short clip for one of my own YouTube videos (of course, I'll give proper credit!). I'm using Windows and I really want to make sure I choose a method that won't expose me to malware or sketchy software. What tools would you recommend to ensure good quality and safety?

I’d suggest checking out yt-dlp. It's a command line tool that you can find on GitHub. A lot of other sites are filled with ads and trackers, so this seems to be the most reliable option. If the command line isn't your thing, you can find sites that help you create the commands needed to use it. Just a heads-up though, you might need to install ffmpeg to merge the video and audio together. The instructions for that are on the GitHub page too, so let me know if you need help!
Yeah, definitely try to avoid the sketchy sites. Lots of them have issues with malware. Just remember to check reviews or community feedback on whatever tool you decide to use, especially if you haven't heard of it before!
Good call! I'll look for user reviews before I download anything.
