What’s the Deal with Burning CDs?

I recently got an external drive for burning CDs from Amazon (the ORIGBELIE DVD-R/W) because I wanted to create a playlist for my boyfriend—he's all about CDs and prefers them over streaming services. I also picked up some blank 700 MB CD-Rs, but here's the problem: the CD doesn't fit into the drive! The center hole seems too small to fit onto the spindle. Am I using the wrong CDs or did I mess up with the drive?

Most drives should have a standard spindle size of about 17mm in diameter. It's worth checking whether the Amazon ad mentions if your drive has a compatible spindle size, although it seems like you might just need to press it in a little more! I mean, I was nervous too—thought I might break something if I forced it in too hard, lol.

Haha, I was scared too! But pressing it hard enough did the trick.

Could you upload a picture showing the center hole of the CD and the tray of the drive? Typically, CDs have a standard center hole size, which is about the size of your index finger. Maybe you just need to push it down a bit harder to click it into place!

Yeah, I just had to press it in a bit more!

Is the hole just slightly too small? If you can, snap a pic of the CD alongside the tray. Some models need the CD to snap into place rather than just dropping it in.

Yeah, I discovered I just had to snap it in!
