What’s the Deal with Developer Support Tickets for Azure?

I'm having an issue where I got locked out of my B2C tenant, and I purchased the developer support tier expecting to get some help from Microsoft. However, it seems like you can no longer open support tickets for actual Azure resources with this tier. The only tickets you're allowed to submit are for disputes, but when it comes to technical issues, they just direct you to the documentation and forums. What's going on? I thought the portal still said that the developer tier allowed ticket submissions.

I believe they stopped the ticketing for the developer tier around last month. It seems like some users were opening tickets without trying to troubleshoot first, which might have led to this change. I didn't see anything about support tickets on the portal anymore, could you share a link to that?

Well, getting locked out of your B2C instance isn't something you can necessarily resolve by yourself. When you navigate to the help and support section in the portal, you can see the details for support plans. The developer tier claims to offer response times for minimal business impact, but it looks like that isn't the case anymore for unlocking issues.

I called Microsoft support after I got locked out of my B2C tenant, and while it took over a week, they managed to fix it. It turns out you don't even need a support plan for this kind of issue.

That's true, but you can't use any of your existing tenants since they can't help you due to security verification and other requirements. You need to provide both the tenant name or ID and the email associated with the global admin.
