What’s the Performance Impact of Capping My i7 14700K to 160W and Undervolting?

Hey there! I'm addressing an issue I have with my motherboard's VRMs being too weak to handle more than 180W of CPU power. To ensure stability, I'm considering limiting my i7 14700K to 160W. Has anyone done this before? What kind of performance drop should I expect? Also, any tips on managing VRM temperatures while still getting decent performance would be great! Thanks in advance for your help!

From my testing, locking your CPU to 160W with a good undervolt can still give you over 32k points in the multi-core Cinebench R23. That’s roughly 90% performance compared to running it at a higher limit! What motherboard are you using?

Can you share how much you undervolted it? I'm using a Gigabyte B760 DS3H AX DDR4 Rev 1.0.
