I currently have an Intel Core i7-12700K and I'm exploring the possibility of switching to an AMD AM5 CPU, specifically the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, along with a new motherboard. However, I've noticed that most deals for those parts come bundled with RAM, which I don't need since I can transfer my existing sticks. I'm also considering selling my current CPU and motherboard to help fund the new setup. Given this situation, is now a good time to make the switch, or should I hold off? I'm using an NVIDIA GeForce 3070 Ti for reference. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I recently switched to the 9800X3D with a 3070, and I'm super pleased with the performance. I'm keeping an eye on future GPU releases, but for now, the setup is working great. If you're leaning towards a CPU upgrade, I'd say go for it!
Before you switch CPUs, consider your goals. If your main focus is gaming, upgrading your CPU might not yield as much of a performance boost since your 3070 Ti is likely holding you back. You could see only marginal gains with a new CPU unless you play games that are heavily CPU-dependent. It might be worth checking how much of a bottleneck you’re actually experiencing first.
True, but it really depends on the type of games played. Some titles, especially strategy or factory games, can become CPU-bottlenecked earlier than others.
That makes sense! If I do decide to upgrade, I could balance it out by getting a new GPU later when prices go down?
If you're looking for something newer, you might want to check out the 14600K. It's a solid option for performance without breaking the bank.

So you think the CPU upgrade is worth it? Thanks for the input!
