I've been using my power supply for about 5 years now and it hasn't given me any issues. However, I'm aware that a failing power supply could potentially damage my entire system. Should I consider replacing my power supply every 5 years just to be on the safe side?

Honestly, I think you should just wait until it stops working. No need to add to e-waste unnecessarily. I've had my power supply for nearly 15 years, and it's still running strong!
I replaced mine only when it started emitting a burning smell!
I like to replace mine when it starts showing issues. My Corsair has been in use for over 6 years through two different builds, and it still works great!
Yeah, it's better to have a solid backup plan and monitor its condition.
When I had my power supply for about 5 years, my system started crashing due to it. Replacing it fixed everything!
If it's a quality power supply and you haven't had any issues, 5 years isn't too bad. They can easily last 7-10 years if they're good models. Just keep an eye out for any funny noises or if it gets too hot.
Yeah, I usually keep mine for about 1.5 times the warranty period. With a 10-year warranty, that means I expect it to last at least 15 years!
Exactly, most power supplies should show signs of failure before they completely give out.
How do you know when it's going to fail, though?
