Which Backup Solution Should I Choose for Microsoft 365: Dell, Veeam, or Alternatives?

I'm planning to switch from Microsoft 365's built-in backup feature due to various reasons, including cost, limited functionality, and storage concerns in Azure. Dell has presented a competitive offer for their PowerProtect Backup Service for SaaS at roughly $3.50 per user for 120 users, and the demo looked promising. However, I've also heard good things about Veeam 365, which is a bit pricier but more popular among sysadmins. I'd prefer a unified platform for my smaller clients, too. Has anyone here used Dell's solution or have experience with Veeam or any other backup options?

I’ve had good luck with AFI.AI for backups! It’s under $3 per user, and it’s been reliable for us over the past couple of years without any major issues.

+1 for AFI.AI! They've worked well for us too.

A lot of people say Veeam is great for backing up to Wasabi, and it’s pretty affordable. But, just a heads up, some users have faced issues with reliability, so maybe do some research before deciding.

Yeah, I had a rough time with Wasabi too. I dropped it after a long ticket resolution process with Veeam. Just not worth the hassle for me!

There's definitely no shortage of backup options out there. Just the other day, I heard good things about Druva as a reputable solution that doesn't require much on-prem setup. Might be worth looking into if you want to keep things simple.

We use Veeam, but just be aware of the different feature levels—it can be a bit tricky. Make sure to go through the demo thoroughly so you know what you’re getting into!

I switched to a Synology server for backups. They have a free app that backs up OneDrive and Teams with much faster performance than Veeam. If you have old hardware lying around, it might be worth checking out!

Yeah, but be careful with permissions and accessing your O365 instance. Just something to consider.

Same here! Their app works perfectly, couldn't be happier.

If you’re considering alternatives, AvePoint is another solid choice. It backs up applications like Planner, has no hidden fees, and offers features for compliance tracking and monitoring changes. Lots of good setups with them for MSPs!

Absolutely! AvePoint has served us well. We've transitioned many clients away from Veeam to them.
