Hey everyone! I'm building my first PC and would love some input on what combo I should go for. Should I pick the 5070ti paired with the 9800x3d, or the 5080 with the 7800x3d? My main gaming focus is on titles like Cyberpunk, The Last of Us, and Silent Hill. I prefer 4K gaming, but 1440p is okay too. The reason I'm considering this unique combo is due to budget constraints. By going with the 7800x3d, I can save some money and invest it into a better GPU. I found a Gigabyte 5080 for just $150 more. I also intend to use this PC for school and need it to handle software like AUTOCAD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The 9800x3d is roughly 8% faster than its counterpart, but the 5080 outperforms the 5070ti by about 17%. If you haven’t looked yet, check out performance videos as well to see how they stack up. Just a heads up, the ones you might find focus on 1080p, and you're looking for 1440p or 4K, right?

As I mentioned, I don't plan on gaming at 1080p; I prefer 1440p or 4K. I only glanced at the video you shared, but thanks for the info!

For single-player games at higher resolutions, having a better GPU really pays off. I'd recommend going for the 5080 with the 7800x3d. It's not like the 5070ti is awful, but the 5080 definitely has the edge. Keep an eye out since some stores have it on sale; I've seen it drop to around $899!

Definitely go with the 7800x3d and 5080. In 1440p and 4K gaming, you won’t notice much difference between the 9800x3d and the 7800x3d, and the 5080 will give you the better experience overall.
