Hey everyone! I'm building my first gaming PC and I want it to run games smoothly at 1440p with ultra settings. I'm debating between the 9800X3D, which costs around €475-490, and the cheaper 7800X3D, priced at approximately €410. Most of my gaming will be competitive, but I'll also be diving into some demanding titles. Which CPU would you recommend? I appreciate any advice! Here's my full build: 7800X3D/9800X3D, ID-Cooling Frost A620 Black, Asus B650E Max Gaming WIFI, Patriot Viper Venom 32GB DDR5 6000MT/s CL30, WD Black SN7100 NVMe Gen 4 SSD, XFX Quicksilver RX 9070 XT 16GB, Corsair RM850x ATX 3.1, Montech XR Wood Black, and my monitor is a Samsung Odyssey G5 running at 1440p 200Hz. Do you think this setup will be sufficient for 1440p gaming over the next 4-5 years?

I would recommend the 9800X3D. For less than a hundred bucks more, you're getting better performance, especially in CPU-intensive games. If you're primarily playing competitive games like CS2, the extra investment will definitely pay off in the long run.
While I think both CPUs are good, if you're mainly focused on competitive games, you might not need to overspend on the 9800X3D. Most games today rely more on the GPU than the CPU, so the 7800X3D can be a budget-friendly option that still delivers. But if you want to maximize performance for the next several years, go for the 9800.
Honestly, for 1440p gaming, I think the 7600X did the job for me paired with a 4070S. I never felt like my CPU was bottlenecking my experience. Just make sure your GPU is solid, and you should be good.
Both CPUs are powerful, but the 9800X3D tends to perform better in demanding titles. If you're looking to future-proof your setup, it’s worth spending a bit more. That said, the 7800X3D is also a solid choice if you're trying to save some cash.
