Hey everyone! I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 7600X and thinking about upgrading my CPU. I play most of my games at 1440p on a setup with an RTX 4070. Given that the 9900X is around 340 euros and the 7800X3D is about 370 euros, which one do you think would be the better buy for gaming?

I’m kind of in the same boat and leaning towards the 9900X. Its performance is slightly lower in games, but it's cheaper and seems better for multitasking and productivity outside of just gaming.
Both CPUs are solid choices. The 9900X is better for tasks like video editing or compiling code, with up to 70% better performance in some situations. If you mostly game, the 7800X3D will give you a small edge, but if you need overall performance, I'd go for the 9900X. It really comes down to what you'll do most with your PC!
If gaming is your main focus, I'd lean towards the 7800X3D. It really shines in games, especially at 1440p, and you'll likely see a noticeable performance boost.
Honestly, if you're mainly gaming at 1440p, maybe consider putting your money into a GPU upgrade instead of just changing CPUs. That could give you more benefit for your games.
No contest: the 7800X3D is the way to go for gaming. It offers the best performance out of the two, hands down!
What makes you think the 7800X3D won't handle YouTube well?
