Which CPU Should I Upgrade To?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade the CPU for my setup and would love some recommendations. Here's what I've got:

- Mainboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 3600MHz
- Current CPU: AMD Ryzen 3900X

I feel like I could use something better. I was considering the Ryzen 7 5800XT but I'm unsure if it's the best choice. Can anyone share the pros and cons of that CPU, or suggest a better option? Thanks a lot!

If you're thinking about the 5800XT, I'd suggest checking out the 5700X instead. The performance is pretty much on par, but the 5800XT has a higher TDP and costs about $50 more. You'll hardly notice any difference in FPS compared to the 3900X, unless you're pushing it in really CPU-heavy games. Plus, you're likely to find the 3900X selling for over $100 on eBay, so the value's not great for an upgrade right now.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. If you're going for the 5xxx series, just grab the least expensive X series model. For heavy workloads, the 5700 is solid, and if you're mainly gaming, the 5600X is easy to cool and performs well. I actually got a 5800XT on sale earlier this year for about the same price as a new 5600, but it's just slightly better and runs really hot.

You might want to check out the X3D CPUs—they're great for performance upgrades if you're looking for something solid.

Honestly, I would recommend sticking with your current CPU. The Ryzen 3900X is still quite powerful and handles most tasks really well. You might not see a significant performance boost by upgrading.
