Which GPU Should I Choose for 1440p Gaming?

I'm building my first PC and I'm looking for some advice on what GPU to choose. I'm aiming for 1440p high frame rate gaming since I enjoy both competitive and single-player AAA games. My CPU is a Ryzen 5 9600x, and I have three GPUs I'm considering: the 5070 (around £500), the 9070XT (about £600), and the 5070 TI (approximately £700). I'm interested in your thoughts on which GPU offers the best performance for the price, as well as how future-proof each option is. Also, do you think the Ryzen 5 9600x is sufficient, or should I upgrade to a Ryzen 7? Thanks for the help!

I really enjoy my 5070TI, but based on user benchmarks, the 5070 and 9070XT perform similarly. For gaming only, I recommend going with the RX GPUs as they provide the best bang for your buck. If you plan to do some productivity work, Nvidia's CUDA cores make them more versatile. Overall, the choice really hinges on your needs and budget.

The 9070XT seems to offer the best value for your situation. If you're leaning towards Nvidia for their DLSS features, just know that the 5070 TI provides solid raw performance, but can feel pricey. The 5070 is decent if you care about price per frame, but at 1440p, I worry the VRAM might be a limitation in the long run. I went for the 5070 TI myself after much thought and while it's not always worth the extra cost over the 9070XT in terms of performance, I'm just more familiar with Nvidia's software and reliability.

Honestly, all those GPUs seem a bit overpriced right now. I went with the 5070, and it’s performed well enough for me at 1440p and even 4K with no issues. I like Nvidia's software a lot more too. Regarding your CPU, either Ryzen 5 or 7 should work fine for 1440p gaming since it’s more GPU-intensive at that resolution.

If you can stretch your budget for the 5070 TI, I'd say go for it. The extra £100 is worth it in terms of software support. That said, if you want to save a bit, the 5070 is still a solid buy, just not as future-proof.
