Which GPU Should I Choose for 1440p: RX 9060 XT or RX 9070?

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card from an RX 6600 to something that can handle 1440p gaming. I'm debating between the RX 9060 XT and the RX 9070. Initially, I thought the RX 9070 was the way to go, but I'm worried about potential bottlenecks and the higher price. The RX 9060 XT is cheaper, but I'm concerned it won't meet my FPS expectations, especially with unstable low 1% performance leading to drops during gameplay. The RX 9070 is more expensive, but it seems to offer better performance with higher and more stable FPS. However, I couldn't find any YouTube videos on builds with the RX 9070 and I'm uncertain about any bottleneck issues. Essentially, should I choose the RX 9060 XT for $550 with expected FPS around 40-60, go for the RX 9070 for $800 and aim for 60-90 FPS, or should I also consider upgrading my processor along with getting the RX 9070/9070 XT for a total of $1100 to avoid a bottleneck? Any insights on potential bottlenecking with the RX 9070 would be really appreciated!

Honestly, I would have just gone straight for the RX 9070 XT from the start. After that, you can keep an eye out for better LGA1700 CPUs, which might be your next upgrade. Remember, nearly every PC will have some bottleneck, and they typically aren’t really detrimental to performance.

Yes, you might experience some bottlenecking with the RX 9070 in certain games, especially with features like ray tracing. If you’re okay with managing 70-80 FPS in some titles, the 9070 can still be a solid choice. You can always upgrade the CPU later if needed, and reusing the GPU makes it a bit easier on your wallet.

I recommend starting with the RX 9070. If your gameplay feels good, you’re set! If you find yourself feeling a bit limited by the CPU, that's something you can tackle later. A bottleneck doesn’t harm your PC, and the 12400F should hold up nicely in various games. Since gaming at 1440p is largely GPU-driven, you might not see many issues. If it does become a problem, consider getting a 14600K—it will perform excellently in modern games.
