Which GPU Should I Choose for My 1440p Gaming Setup: 9070XT or 9060XT?

I built my first PC a year ago with an Rx6600, mainly enjoying older games from Skyrim to RDR2. Now that I have some savings, I'm eager to upgrade and play modern titles at max settings on my 1440p ultrawide monitor. I'm considering the 9060XT for AU$569 or the 9070XT for AU$989. Is the extra investment in the 9070XT worth it in terms of future-proofing for games like GTA VI and The Witcher IV, especially since I might also get to play TES6 if it drops unexpectedly? As a newbie, I'm uncertain how much of a performance difference there is between the 60 and 70 series cards for modern gaming. My current build includes a Gigabyte B650, Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX6600, Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB DDR5, and a 1TB SSD.

Your current setup looks solid, especially with that Ryzen 5 7600! Just a heads up, for 1440p ultrawide, the 9070XT would be an excellent match.

In the long run, if you switch out GPUs as often as you did with the RX6600, both will offer similar future-proofing, honestly. But for now, if you want the best performance for future games like GTA VI, the 9070XT is worth the investment!

I agree! If you can swing the higher price, go for the 9070XT.

Generally, the difference between the 60 and 70 series GPUs can be around 30%. The 60 series is decent for 1440p but mainly at medium settings, while the 70 series like the 9070XT will handle higher settings better. Based on benchmarks, the 9070XT is around 25% faster than the 9060XT, which could make a noticeable difference for future titles!

That's really helpful! Thanks for the comparison.

If you're casual about gaming, the 9060XT offers great value for the price, especially if you opt for the 16GB model. It should handle 1440p at medium settings nicely. However, if you want to maximize graphical settings for the more demanding games coming out, the 9070XT is definitely the way to go.

You might want to check out some benchmarks on YouTube for your CPU and GPU combo. Just search for your components plus 'benchmark'—you'll find videos showing how they perform across various games and resolutions. It'll give you a better idea of what to expect!
