Which GPU Should I Choose for My PC Upgrade?

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU since my RX 570 struggles with new games. I initially planned to upgrade my entire PC in a couple of months, but with RAM prices being high, that's not happening anytime soon. My current setup includes a 650W PSU, an Intel 10th Gen i5 10400, and 16GB of RAM, running on PCIe Gen 3.

I'm considering two GPUs: the RX 9060 XT (16GB) and the RTX 5060 Ti (16GB). The pricing in my country has the RTX 5060 Ti priced at just $13 more than the RX 9060 XT, which makes it quite a close call. Both cards are standard models - the RX is a Sapphire and the RTX is a PNY. The shop owner mentioned he might get an MSI 5060 Ti in stock, but it's not a guarantee.

I'd like to know which card would perform better with my current specs. How much of an impact does PCIe Gen 3 have on performance? Should I stick with one of these two cards, or is it necessary for me to upgrade my whole system for optimal performance?

The RTX 5060 Ti is a better overall deal, but it’s important to note that it’s a PCIe x8 card, which might bottleneck a bit on your PCIe 3.0 setup. The RX 9060 XT is an x16 card, so it should work smoothly. Just keep this in mind as you decide!

When choosing between these two GPUs, keep in mind that Nvidia generally offers better driver support over time. Your RX 570 struggles with newer games mainly because AMD has started retiring its driver support for older cards, which limits optimization for recent titles. The RTX 5060 Ti usually outperforms the RX 9060 XT in gaming, and that $13 difference is worth it for the extended support you’ll get. I'd say go for the 5060 Ti if you can!

I went with the RX 6750 XT (12GB) and I love it! Snagged it used for about £300, reapplied thermal paste, cleaned it out, and it’s been fantastic since! Just a thought if you’re open to other options.

Don't stress too much about PCIe Gen 3! If the price difference is so small, just grab the RTX 5060 Ti. It's a solid choice for your setup, and you'll see better performance for gaming overall.

Can you share your full system specs? That way, we can suggest the best route for you. If it’s only a $13 difference, I'd lean towards the RTX 5060 Ti for longevity and performance.

Sure! My specs are the Intel i5 10400F, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a 650W PSU with an NVMe drive for games.
