Which GPU Should I Wait For After Building My First PC?

Hey folks, I just finished building my very first PC around a 7800x3d processor and picked up a RX 6600 for a solid price (about 250 AUD or 160 USD) as a starting GPU. It's handling lighter games like Overwatch and Valorant pretty well, but I'm looking to upgrade for better performance in high-quality single-player games and using Blender in the future. I'm ready to wait a year or even longer for the right card, aiming for something in the 500 to 650 USD range. Any advice on what GPUs I should keep an eye on?

You should definitely check out the 9070 XT and the 5070 Ti. The 9070 XT has an MSRP of around $600 and is comparable to the 5070 Ti, which usually goes for about $750. If the price of the 9070 XT drops closer to its MSRP, that would be a great option. Keep in mind that Nvidia cards tend to perform better for Blender, but if you want good gaming value, AMD is the way to go.

Rather than stressing over what cards might come out in a year, I’d suggest focus on what's available when you're actually ready to upgrade. It's tough to predict prices and card availability that far in advance. Plus, technology changes quickly!

If you're looking at Blender performance, you absolutely want an Nvidia card. The 5070 seems like the best choice in your price range right now. However, if you can hold out, the 5070 Super model will probably suit your needs even better.

There might be a new generation from Nvidia and AMD soon with better VRAM options, like a '5060 TI Super' or '9060 XT' which could fall into your price range. Keep your ears open for those announcements!

I’ve been gaming and using Blender extensively, and the 5070 is such a good buy for around $600. I've even seen it drop to about $500 in some places. If you can snag a 5070 Ti for around $700, I’d go for it!
