Hey everyone! I'm completely new to Linux and have been using Microsoft Windows for years. I'm really interested in learning how to use Linux, but I'm not sure which distribution would be the best for a beginner like me. Any suggestions?

As a fellow newbie, I found that it's important to first choose a desktop environment you really like. I went with GNOME because I think it's visually appealing. Then, I selected my distribution based on what I needed it for—Nobara, for gaming, worked well for me. Just pick what's best for your preferences!
If you're just starting out, I'd recommend checking out Ubuntu or Fedora. I began with Fedora Workstation and eventually switched to Fedora KDE once I got more comfortable. Both are user-friendly and have app stores, which is great because you won't have to dive into the command line right away.
I'd go with Mint or Ubuntu. Mint has a user interface that's similar to what you're used to with Windows. Plus, both of these options have a lot of community support to help you out!
Consider trying a Live-USB version of Linux. This way, you can experiment with different distributions without affecting your current setup. Here are a couple of links to get you started:
- Debian: https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/
- Linux Mint: https://linuxmint.com/download.php
- Ventoy: https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html
A Live USB allows you to boot the OS into RAM so it won’t change anything on your computer, and everything resets after you turn it off.
For learning resources, check out the Learn Linux TV channel on YouTube! The tutorials range from beginner to advanced, which can really help you out. As for distributions, I suggest Linux Mint if you want something like Windows or Fedora/Ubuntu if you prefer a more Mac-like look. The great thing about Linux is its flexibility, so you'll definitely find something that suits you.
