I've been using Windows 11 for about a year now, and it's really tanked my computer's performance. I'm looking to switch to Linux and would love some recommendations on which distro to choose. I'd prefer something easy to use since I mainly game—mostly multiplayer titles like League of Legends, Valorant, and some casual games like Stardew and Minecraft with mods. I want a user-friendly interface that won't hassle me too much when I'm just trying to play. Also, where can I find the right Linux version to download and install?

For your gaming needs, I suggest trying out Bazzite or Pop!_OS—they're both tailored for gamers and perform well with most popular titles, minus those pesky anti-cheat issues. You can track which games work via protondb.com, a great resource!

Bazzite seems cool! I'll have to give it a shot.

Pop!_OS is pretty solid too. I'm a fan of their gaming setup!

Linux Mint Cinnamon is pretty user-friendly and has a lot of software pre-installed, making it a smooth experience right out of the box. Plus, games like Minecraft and RDR2 run well on it. You can find it on their official website.

Yeah, I had a good experience with Mint for gaming. It's simple to navigate!

Nice! I've heard good things about Mint for gaming too. Definitely worth checking.

Check out Bazzite or Garuda Linux as well—they're optimized for gaming, and many users have found them to be very effective. But keep in mind that not all games may work due to various restrictions. Just browse through distrowatch.com or visit bazzite.gg for downloads, and you should be set!

Bazzite sounds promising, I'll definitely look into that!

If you're serious about gaming, you might want to stick with Windows for League of Legends and Valorant, as they don't play well on Linux due to anti-cheat software. If you still want to try Linux, I'd suggest checking out Linux Mint for a good starter experience. For downloads and more info, sites like DistroWatch and the official Mint site are great resources!

Yeah, I tried dual-booting myself, it works out pretty good for accessing the games that won't make the switch.

I agree, sticking with Windows for those games might be the best bet. But Mint is solid for everything else!

Honestly, if you're mostly playing multiplayer games, you might want to stick to Windows altogether. I've had issues with getting reliable performance on Linux for those types of games. But for single-player games, you'll find Linux can be great!

That's fair, I just want better performance overall.

For sure! It's good to weigh the pros and cons before making the switch.
