I've been a Windows user for a long time, and after switching laptops, I got stuck with Windows 11, which I really don't like. The OS eats up too many resources and every update feels like a battle to revert unwanted changes. I preferred Windows 10 and now I'm considering a switch to Linux. I'm not really familiar with Linux distributions, so I was hoping to get some recommendations that are user-friendly for someone coming from Windows. I mostly use my laptop for browsing the internet and playing games on Steam, and I think I could use Wine for some other applications that I rely on. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

If you're new to Linux, I highly recommend trying out Linux Mint, Kubuntu, or Pop!_OS. They’re pretty user-friendly and great for beginners. If you're into gaming, you might also check out PikaOS, which is tailored for gaming enthusiasts. Definitely investigate these options!
It’s important to consider your hardware. Since you have an ASUS laptop with 8GB of RAM and an 11th gen i3 processor, you should be good to go with most distros. But if you're looking for something lightweight, that's worth noting!
Thanks for confirming, that helps a lot!
Debian is the way to go! It’s stable and has been around for ages. Just reliable, you can’t go wrong with it!
Your laptop should handle any Linux distro just fine! I suggest checking out the YouTube channel 'Explaining Computers'. They have a great video on switching to Linux that covers everything you need to know as a newbie. It answers a lot of common questions for starters.
I'll definitely check that out; I used a Linux distro before as a secondary system so I have some basic knowledge.
You could visit the migration page on certain forums for more tips on switching to Linux. Also, make sure to check for some migration tips on that site. Just a heads up, always be careful about using root and installing from third-party repos. And don’t forget to back up your data before making the switch!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll look into those.
