Which Linux Distro Should I Choose for Gaming?

I'm starting my Linux adventure and I've formatted a drive for installation. I want to explore Linux gaming, but I'm torn between two popular options: Pop!_OS and Bazzite. I have an Intel i7 processor and an RTX 4060 with 8GB of VRAM, so I'm looking for guidance on which distro would be better suited for my gaming needs. Any recommendations?

Both Pop!_OS and Bazzite are great choices. I'd suggest diving into both and seeing which desktop environment you prefer. Personally, I lean towards Pop!_OS's updated look, but it really comes down to personal taste.

My opinion is to check out these options: For gaming on an immutable OS, go with Bazzite. If you want something with cutting-edge features, Cachyos is worth considering. For general use that includes gaming, Linux Mint is solid.

Honestly, I’d recommend Pop!_OS. It has good support for newer hardware like yours and offers a smooth gaming experience. I’d avoid Bazzite as it has some quirks that might frustrate you while you’re still learning.

I recommend trying something that feels different from what you're used to, especially if you've primarily used Windows. If you're coming from Windows, Pop!_OS might be a good fit since it has a more Mac-like UI. If you’re coming from Mac, consider Bazzite. But it sounds like you're open to exploring, which is great!

With an Nvidia card, Bazzite could be beneficial since it works well out of the box with Nvidia drivers. However, Pop!_OS also supports them, but it might require more setup. Bazzite is a bit more stable for beginners as well. You might want to try both on a USB and see which one feels right.
