Which Linux Distro Should I Choose for Gaming and Programming?

As the year wraps up, I'm contemplating making the switch to Linux for my computer, which I primarily use for programming and gaming, specifically titles like Monster Hunter Wilds and Helldivers 2. I've come across several distributions that seem tailored for gaming, such as Nobara, PopOS, CachyOS, and Bazzite. I'm struggling to decide among these options and would appreciate any guidance in selecting the right distro for my needs.

Additionally, I'm curious about the dual-boot option. Is it advisable to dual-boot initially and possibly remove Windows later? I'm thinking about this approach to ensure that I can revert back to Windows seamlessly if I find that Linux isn't suitable for me without needing to reinstall it.

Choosing a distro really depends on what you're after! Here's a breakdown of the options:

- **Nobara**: Great for gaming and based on Fedora. You'll get regular updates, but it might require some hands-on management.
- **CachyOS**: Performance-focused and rolling-release based on Arch, perfect if you prefer the latest tweaks.
- **PopOS!**: A solid choice with user-friendly features, especially good for general usage but less applicable for your specific needs.
- **Bazzite**: If you're looking for stability and a hassle-free experience, Bazzite could be the one for you.

Ultimately, it comes down to whether you want frequent smaller updates (Cachy) or less frequent but larger ones (Nobara). Also, keep in mind that the benefits of PopOS! may not apply fully to your setup.

Thanks for clarifying the benefits of each distro! I’ve also heard some talk about X11 and Wayland regarding stability. Is that something I need to consider when choosing?
