I'm looking to switch to Linux and need some recommendations for a distribution that has an easy installation. My main focus will be using Unity and GameMaker Studio on my PC. Any suggestions on what might work best for me?

Ubuntu is a great choice for beginners looking to use Unity and GameMaker. It’s well supported and has extensive documentation. Both Unity and GameMaker have active versions for Ubuntu, though keep in mind that GameMaker's build is still in Beta. If stability is key, you might want to stick with Windows until everything is sorted out.

For a smooth experience, I'd recommend checking out Linux Mint or Fedora. However, I'd love to know more about your hardware specs and any personal preferences you might have. Make sure to research desktop environments too, and consider using Ventoy which allows you to boot multiple distros to test them out!

If you're interested in a more Windows-like experience, you should consider Kubuntu or Fedora KDE. They both offer the KDE desktop which is user-friendly and highly customizable. While Mint could work too, I personally find the interface lacking. It's all subjective though! But Ubuntu and Fedora are solid bases.

Check out CashyOS if you're into gaming! It has features that can enhance your gaming experience on Linux, which might be perfect for what you're looking for.
