Which Linux Distro Should I Choose: Mint or Nobara?

I'm looking to switch from Windows 11 to Linux, and I'm debating between two distributions: Mint and Nobara. As a newcomer to Linux (though I have some experience with troubleshooting on Windows), I'd love to hear your thoughts on which might be better suited for my needs.

Here's what's important for my daily tasks:
- Digital drawing: I want to ensure my pen-display works well, especially in a multi-monitor setup.
- Gaming: I'm into mostly modern games but also enjoy older titles; I'm not concerned about anti-cheat issues since I don't play online.
- Screen and audio capture: I need to record my screen along with audio for game footage. I've heard that Discord can get tricky on Linux.

**My Hardware:**
- CPU: Intel i5-10400F
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660
- Dual monitors (one is a drawing tablet)

I'm okay with using the terminal if necessary, but I'd prefer to limit that as much as possible. Any insights on whether Mint or Nobara would better fit my workflow? Thanks!

Hey! I think both options have their perks, but if you're starting out, Mint might be the better choice. It's user-friendly and has a lot of community support. Plus, if you run into any hiccups while gaming or drawing, there’s plenty of documentation to help you out. You can always switch to Nobara later if you feel adventurous!

Yeah, Mint is pretty solid for beginners. Plus, it handles graphics well, so that should work for your drawing setup!

Totally agree! Mint is great for stability while you’re getting used to Linux.

I've tried both. Mint is lighter and easier to navigate, but Nobara gives you better graphics performance. If you're okay with some initial setup, you might find Nobara worth it. I recommend running both in a VM to see which you prefer before fully committing to one!

Nobara is pretty cool, especially if you want modern features right out of the box. It handles NVIDIA drivers pretty easily during installation, so for gaming, it has some advantages. Just keep in mind it can be a bit heavier than Mint, which might affect your performance in some cases. If you feel comfortable with a few tweaks, give it a shot!

That’s a good point about the NVIDIA drivers. If gaming’s a priority, Nobara could really shine!

Yeah, but if it runs too heavy, it might not be ideal for a dual monitor setup with drawing.
