Which M.2 SSDs Run the Coolest?

I'm on the hunt for the coolest M.2 SSDs currently available. Specifically, I'm looking for temperature comparisons between different brands. Ideally, I'd like to go for a PCIe 4 drive, but I'm curious if a PCIe 5 drive with newer controllers might produce less heat when installed in a PCIe 4 slot. If anyone can suggest a low-temperature SSD or, even better, point me to a chart comparing the temperatures of various drives, I'd really appreciate it! I'm working with a compact case, so the temperature of the drive is critical as it will affect everything else. It needs to generate as little heat as possible, especially under load while gaming.

If you're really worried about heat in a confined area, it might be worth exploring some brands known for better thermal management. They usually advertise lower operating temperatures. Just keep an eye out for reviews mentioning thermal performance.

Thanks for the tip! Reviews do make a big difference, especially for seeing real-world performance.

For PCIe 4 drives, you generally won't see temperatures exceed 40°C, especially if you use a heatsink. However, it's important to note that PCIe 5 drives can get quite hot, particularly in a tight space without sufficient airflow. If you're restricted from using a heatsink, that could definitely affect overall heat output, especially during intensive tasks like gaming.

Yeah, precisely! In cramped cases, cooling becomes even more vital since everything's packed in tight. Make sure you consider airflow too!
