I'm looking to invest in an Apple device specifically for web development, mainly because I want to test my websites on Safari. It's important for me to see how things like animations perform in a real-world setting, especially since I love pushing my CSS limits. The catch is, I can only afford one device even though I need two: a new smartphone (my current one is quite outdated) and a laptop for programming and testing. The smartphone could be an iPhone, but since Androids are cheaper, I might not lose much if I go that route. However, I believe a MacBook would be much more beneficial for development and testing. If I go for the MacBook, should I choose the Air or the base model Pro? I'm concerned about whether the Air can handle small to medium-sized web projects or some photo editing without lagging. What do you all think?

I have the M1 MacBook Air from 2023, and it's been great! I can run two Node.js servers and a frontend dev server without any lag. I'm not a photo editor, so I can't speak to that, but for coding, it performs super well!
Honestly, any Mac should do the trick for web dev!

It's also pretty decent for video editing too, even at 2-4K rendering!
