Hey everyone! I just created an account to ask for some guidance. I'm pretty clueless about PCs, so I'd like explanations that are super simple. My main game is Red Dead Redemption 2, and while my laptop runs it reasonably well, I'm aiming to upgrade to a PC that can handle the game at max settings without crashing. I want to build rather than buy a new laptop. Gaming is my priority, but I also do some drawing, so more HDMI ports for my devices would really help. I'm looking to spend around $1,000, and I'm based in Wisconsin, if that's relevant.

If you're looking to play RDR2 at max settings, the most important part will be your graphics card. For a budget around $1,000, I recommend a setup like this:
- Ryzen 5 7600 or 7500F
- 32GB DDR5 RAM (keep in mind though that RAM prices are quite high due to demand)
- RX 7700 XT (good value and performance)
- 1TB NVMe SSD
This setup should comfortably handle RDR2 at high or max settings, especially at 1080p or 1440p. Just a tip: some ultra settings don’t significantly improve visuals and tend to drain performance, so adjusting reflections or volumetrics from Ultra to High could improve your FPS without sacrificing much in terms of how the game looks.
And regarding HDMI ports: most graphics cards typically come with one HDMI plus multiple DisplayPort outputs. If you need extra HDMI connections, you can use DisplayPort to HDMI adapters without any hassle.
I just wanted to mention that the total cost may exceed $1,000, so keep that in mind.
Hey, quick question! What monitor resolution and refresh rate do you plan on using? It matters for the kind of graphics and performance you'll need.
I actually have two Sceptre monitors at 1920 x 1080 and 165 Hz.

Sounds reasonable! Just need to figure out what those parts mean. I've also noticed some graphics settings don't change a lot; mainly, it’s shadows and textures that I care about since that’s what I focus on.
