Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to the PC world and need some advice. I'm a video editor working mainly with 1080p 60fps videos, and occasionally I tackle 4k 30fps videos, but that's not very often. Previously, I had an i5 11400F with an Rx 6600 and 16GB of RAM, and I've realized that Intel performs much better with Adobe tools like Premiere and After Effects compared to Ryzen, which has been slower for me.
Currently, I'm considering two options: 1) Ryzen 7 5700X with 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and an RTX 4060 or 2) Intel Core i5-14400F with 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and an RTX 5060. I'd also like to be able to play games like RDR2, Minecraft, Hogwarts, etc., along with some occasional streaming. Multitasking is crucial for my work as well. Let me know if you need more details about these setups. Thanks a lot!

If I were you, I’d definitely go with the second option, the i5-14400F and RTX 5060. It generally has better performance for gaming and editing tasks. Plus, Intel's newer gen typically runs Adobe software smoother. Just keep in mind that for 4K video, you'll want a graphics card with 12GB of VRAM, but the 5060 should handle most of your needs quite well.
I’d agree! I’m currently using a Macbook Air, and while it works, I really think you’ll find that setup much better as you’re getting more work. Plus, if you're planning on streaming, that rig will definitely support multitasking more effectively.
The Ryzen 7 5700X is a decent CPU, but the 14th gen i5 is newer and likely to perform better in both editing and gaming. Considering the price for both is around the same, I would recommend going for the i5-14400F. It's got a better upgrade path and handles multitasking smoothly.
Absolutely! I think the i5 will serve you better in the long run since it's more future-proof. Plus, it’s good to hear that the prices are similar!
Yeah, I’d stick with the i5 as well. It's pretty much the go-to option for a solid balance between productivity and gaming.
Honestly, it seems like the i5 is just the better overall choice, especially for gaming and editing. A lot of people say that Intel shines with applications like Premiere, especially with single-core tasks. Just be cautious about your RAM for 4K video; you might need to consider upgrading later.
To add on, the i5-14400F won't get quicksync benefits since it lacks an iGPU, but the RTX 5060 can handle real-time playback quite well! Good luck with your decision!
I’ve also read that while the 5700X does decently in multi-threaded tasks, the 14400F has a solid edge in most cases for video editing.

Don’t overlook the performance in exporting either! The i5 paired with the 5060 will really shine there. It’s a great choice.
