I've received two warnings from ARCOM stating that illegal files are being downloaded through my IP address using BitTorrent. However, no one in my household has been knowingly downloading anything. We have a dynamic IP address, which I wonder if it could be causing this issue. I've gone through all our files, and everything looks normal. I'm looking for any advice on how this might be happening and what steps I should take next.

Since you have a dynamic IP, it can change frequently. Ask for specific file names and timestamps from ARCOM and check with your ISP to see if your IP logs match those downloads.
It might even be one of your kids' friends using BitTorrent while they’re over at your house.
It could be that someone in your family is lying or someone outside has access to your network. Log in to your router, change the WiFi password, and check for any unknown devices connected.
Thanks! How do I check the devices connected to my network?
If you're worried, the first step is to change your WiFi password just to be safe. But seriously, are you sure no one's sneaking downloads? Sometimes family can be a little secretive!
Nope, no one would lie about this! It was just some Linkin Park songs, nothing serious. Maybe someone accidentally clicked a sketchy link.
Just double check that those warnings are genuinely from ARCOM and not some phishing attempt.
I’m pretty sure they are real!
Are you using a free VPN service? Some of them can use your connection as a VPN for others, which might explain the downloads.

If you're not interested in seeing who’s connected, just change the password and restart your router. That’ll kick everyone off and they’ll have to log back in with the new password.
