I'm experiencing a significant drop in my download speed—about 50%—when connecting my PC through my Nighthawk AXE7300 Tri-band WiFi 6E Router. I get nearly gigabit speeds when connecting directly from the modem, which is provided by Charter Spectrum. However, once I plug the router in, my speed drops to around 400 Mbps. I've already had Charter replace the modem and have tried multiple cables. I suspect the issue lies with the router itself. Has anyone else faced a similar problem? What solutions do you recommend?

First off, double-check that QoS (Quality of Service) is disabled on your router. Consumer-grade routers can sometimes struggle with this feature due to limited processing power, which might be slowing down your connection. Also, make sure that your router's firmware is up to date.
If you're running multiple devices on the network, they can affect your speed as well. Having too many devices connected can lead to a division of available bandwidth, which could explain why your speed isn't hitting the max with the router. You could also check for any disruptions in your Ethernet cables or settings on your network components.
Consider upgrading to a more powerful router like the Eero Max 7 if you're looking for full speed. The Nighthawk is good, but sometimes a newer model can really make a difference in performance!
You might want to reset your router to factory settings if you haven't tried that yet. Since your direct connection to the modem works fine, the problem is likely somewhere in the router's settings or software. It's also worth testing out different ports or cables—those can sometimes be a hidden issue. If resetting doesn’t help, you might want to consider replacing the router.
