Why Are My AirPods and AirTags Making Sounds When I Pick Them Up?

I've noticed something strange lately. I have both an iPhone and an Android phone, but I haven't really used my iPhone much and it's been turned off. Every time I grab my car keys, my AirTag starts dinging, and the same goes for my AirPods. Does anyone know what's going on and how I can stop this annoying dinging?

It sounds like your devices might be alerting you that their batteries are getting low. Make sure your AirPods are fully charged, and if you've replaced the AirTag battery already, that might not be the issue. Have you checked those settings on your iPhone? Sometimes, having a device that's not actively connected can cause weird notifications like this.

I have AppleCare for my AirPods. Should I contact Apple about this issue?

You’re spot on! If your devices have been inactive for a while, the AirTag can go into a semi-lost mode. This might cause it to ding occasionally if it detects movement. As for the AirPods, they can also signal you if they lose connection or if they're not paired for a long time. It's definitely worth checking your device settings to see if there's anything off.

Got it! So it’s normal for the AirTags to ding when they detect movement? What about the AirPods in that situation?
