Why Are My Emails to Gmail Marked as Spam Despite Compliance?

I've been struggling with an issue for over a month where all emails sent from my domain (hosted on Microsoft 365) to Gmail are being rejected as spam. I keep getting an error message stating that the remote server detected the messages as spam due to our domain's very low reputation. However, tools show our domain reputation as "High".

In the new Postmaster Tools, the reasons for rejection include "Email content is possibly spammy" and "Suspected spam," yet I've sent test emails with just basic text, and those are also being rejected. The compliance status reports full compliance, and my DMARC setup shows that emails are passing correctly. Each time I log a delivery report, I get a response saying "More traffic needed". I'm looking for suggestions on how to resolve this issue!

It looks like your sending IP, 2a01:111:f403:c40e::1, has a questionable reputation. A lack of reputation can definitely be a factor in being marked as spam. You might want to try switching to IPv4 if that's possible, since Gmail can get funny about IPv6 addresses. Don't forget to double-check your DMARC, DKIM, and SPF records since those are crucial for deliverability. You seem to be on top of that part, though!

Thanks for the heads up! I’m not sure if I can control the IP version since that’s set on Microsoft’s end, but I’ll definitely keep an eye on those records.

Yeah, I totally get that. We've been in a similar boat before, and it turned out that forcing IPv4 in our transport rules made a huge difference overnight!

Gmail tends to require a decent sending volume to build a good reputation. The "more traffic needed" message usually means your sending volume is low right now. You might need to increase your legitimate email traffic gradually or consider using a dedicated email sending service for better results, especially if email delivery is critical for you.

Got it! That's good info—I’ll ramp up our legitimate emails. Thanks for the tip!

Definitely! Ramping up your volume can help build that reputation more quickly.
