I was using my laptop just fine, but now when I try to enter numbers, they change into symbols instead. This is really frustrating because I can't sign in, and I need to enter my password which includes numbers. It also seems like my letters are typing in uppercase, even though I'm not using Caps Lock or Shift. Can anyone help me figure this out? I have an exam coming up and I really need access to my laptop!

Just a heads up, be sure to check if Caps Lock is on, and also hit the Num Lock key just to rule those out!
But remember, Caps Lock on a QWERTY keyboard doesn't affect the number keys at all!
It sounds like your keyboard might be confused about its shift state. Try pressing and releasing all your Ctrl, Shift, and Alt keys at the same time a few times. This could reset any stuck keys. If that doesn't work, a quick restart usually helps too!
It might not be Caps Lock that's causing the problem. Check if your Alt key is stuck down. If it's just the numbers on the numpad that are acting up, that's a common issue.
You could have activated Filter Keys! Try holding the Shift key for 8 seconds and see if that changes anything.
Thanks for the tips, everyone! I found out that a simple restart fixed my problem. 🙈 Although, if it happens again, I'll remember to tap Control, Alt, and Shift independently to get rid of any 'sticky' keys first!
Glad it helped! Always good to know some quick fixes!
If it's specifically the numpad that's acting strange, your Alt key could be stuck. If it's the number keys above the letters, then the Shift key may be stuck instead. Also, check under your settings for Ease of Access > Keyboard to see if "Filter Keys" is enabled. Uncheck it if it is!

I had the same issue before I read your comment!
