Why Are There New ‘Follow Up’ Prompts in ChatGPT?

I've been noticing that after each response, ChatGPT is throwing in 2 or 3 follow-up prompts for me to use. It's making me wonder if ChatGPT is getting tired of my questions, which is kind of funny! Is there any way to disable this new feature?

As a pro user, you can disable the follow-up feature directly in your settings. Try adding a directive about it in the instructions if you haven’t already. You might still need to remind it each session, though.

I had that follow-up prompts option in my custom settings for a while, but I'm not exactly sure when it was implemented. When did you start seeing it?

I just noticed it yesterday!

Totally get what you mean! Those prompts aren’t really my style either. There’s gotta be a way to adjust those settings or preferences somewhere in the app.

Just yesterday, I was asking it for gardening tips, and it kept suggesting things like writing a backyard field guide or a poem about my plants. Super annoying!

I figured out that you can instruct it not to end answers with follow-up questions. After I did that, it completely stopped asking me to write poems or guides.

That sounds like a neat fix! I’ll try putting that in my instructions.
