Why Can’t I Access BIOS When XMP is Enabled?

I built my first PC about a year ago with limited help, mostly from YouTube. I made a few rookie mistakes, like choosing a cheap Micro ATX motherboard without WiFi, which didn't fit well in my ATX case alongside my RTX 5080 and 9800X3D. Recently, I upgraded to an MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk Max WiFi motherboard, but since then, I've run into a lot of problems. The latest issue is that my Corsair Vengeance RAM is extremely unstable with the A-XMP profile enabled, causing my PC to shut down unexpectedly during gaming. I attempted to tweak the settings myself, but now, any changes I make to the RAM settings result in a black display during POST—no BIOS access until I reach the Windows login. The PC appears to work fine otherwise, but I want to run MemTest86 for stability checks. When pressing F11, I notice that it behaves differently, but I can't see anything on the screen. Resetting the CMOS allows everything to function normally but forces the RAM to run at 4800, which I'd prefer to avoid. I'd greatly appreciate any tips or solutions on fixing this so I can run my RAM at its full speed without losing access to the BIOS!

You might want to update your BIOS if you haven't already. Also, I found some resources related to NVIDIA firmware updates that could help with your RTX 5080. Just something to consider!

Thanks! Yes, my BIOS is updated already, but I appreciate the suggestion!

If you're experiencing random shutdowns while gaming, try checking the Windows Event Viewer for any error logs that might indicate the issue. It's possible the RAM settings are causing instability when the A-XMP profile is enabled.

I’ve noticed it only happens with the A-XMP profile on. Disabling it stops the shutdowns.
