I'm having a frustrating issue on my parents' computer where we can only access Google websites. Whenever I try visiting any other site, it loads really slowly and eventually gives a 'can't be reached' error. However, Google.com and Gmail work just fine. Since other devices connected to the same WiFi can access any website without a hitch, I'm guessing there's some setting on this PC causing the problem. I'm also seeing this issue on both Chrome and Edge, and I'm wondering if there might be a configuration issue or something blocking access.

There are various possible causes for this issue. It could be due to a bad DNS server, a problematic Windows Hosts file, strict firewall rules, misconfigured software, use of proxies or VPNs, or even browser extensions. Since you mentioned trying two different browsers, it's likely not browser-specific, but it’s worth investigating these other areas.
Have you tried changing the DNS settings? Switching to an alternative DNS server can sometimes resolve these kinds of connectivity issues.
It sounds like something might be off with the computer itself. If they're using Windows 10 or 11, consider checking the connection type—are they connected via Ethernet or WiFi? Also, rebooting both the computer and the router can help clear any glitches that might be causing the problem. Just turn them off and unplug them for about 30 seconds before turning them back on.
They're connected via Ethernet, and I've restarted both devices but no luck. They're running Windows 11.
Just a thought, could it be a problem with IPv4 connectivity while IPv6 still works? It might be worth checking that out.
I tried that but it didn't work.
