I work at a school where they recently restricted staff WiFi access to block sites like YouTube on our personal devices. When I'm on my lunch break, I like to watch YouTube, but since the restriction, even turning off the WiFi doesn't help. I can get two bars of 5G inside the building and in the parking lot, and YouTube loads fine outside. Could there be something in my iPhone settings causing this issue, or is the building structure affecting the reception? I've already tried forgetting the network, but it didn't change anything.

If you’re really keen on using YouTube, and if it’s an option for you, consider getting YouTube Premium. It allows downloads and removes ads, which could be a game-changer for your viewing experience. Just a heads up though, it’s cheaper to subscribe through a PC than the mobile app!
It sounds like the building's structure is interfering with your cell signal. Even with 2 bars, physical obstacles like walls can really degrade the quality of your reception, especially in schools with concrete block construction. Try testing another streaming app, like Netflix, to see if that works inside. If that’s also an issue, it might just be the building causing the problem.
Totally agree! The materials used in many schools can really block signals, so don't be surprised if you're only getting decent service by a window!
Have you thought about switching carriers? Ask around to find out who gets good signal in the building and see if switching is an option for you.
It’s possible that your school management should address this with the carrier. Many large buildings have specific setups, like ceiling antenna networks, for better coverage. Good luck getting your school to do something about it though!

Haha, I feel you! I did something similar in high school to get around blocks. But seriously, if you want Premium, definitely go for the PC deal!
